Meta-analysis
The first phase of the work aims to define the evolution (the coincidences and divergences) in the countries involved in the project regarding the social, political and educational discourses about the involvement of the families (especially those of foreign origin) in the schools. This phase of the project consists of recompiling the research carried out in each country on these themes together with the official documentation on the evolution of the political discourse and practices. In other words, the aim is to carry out a meta-analysis that will be complemented with two discussion groups (one for professionals from the schools and another with families) to define the evolution and current state in each situation.
Educational innovation
The second phase of the work is focussed on the design, testing and continuous evaluation (in line with the research-action) of innovative actions in the pilot schools. This work is spread over one school course (2019-2020). The above-mentioned actions bear in mind: 1) the reception of the newly-arrived families; 2) the information the families receive about the education system in general and the working of the particular school; 3) the involvement of the families at home; 4) family-school communication; and 5) participation of the families in the school. The starting point is the existence of a range of conditioning factors for the involvement/integration/communication and that must be known to encourage the inclusion of the foreign-origin families.
Dissemination of the results.
Although from the beginning, the information about the project and its results will be made available, it will be in the fourth quarter of the first year when the first book will be published and the first results will be made available. Later, a congress will be held in Italy, a second book will be published and actions will be carried out throughout the project.
